Serving with the Red Sea Mission Team
We need long term workers (2+ years to a life time) who learn the local language and culture in order to effectively communicate the Gospel.
In most countries workers need to have a skill or profession which meets a felt need of the local people. Often this is essential for visa purposes. It also gives opportunities for meeting people and making friends.

In the cultures in which we work Christian witness can often only be given very sensitively, on a one to one basis, making use of God-given opportunities as they arise. Workers need to be team-oriented, flexible, physically healthy and emotionally stable. A sensitive life style and a love for indigenous people are essential. A sense of humour is a great asset!
Firm in their faith and adequately prepared
All workers must be firm in their faith, able to depend on their own personal relationship with God. They must understand and agree to our Basis of Faith.
Usually a worker is expected to have attended a Bible or Missionary Training College (or similar training) for help in cross cultural communication skills, basic Bible knowledge, and how to evangelise and then nurture Christians in another culture. A basic knowledge of Islam is essential. Relevant orientation is given.
Language
As English is the language of communication within the Team, those for whom English is not their mother tongue must have good English, at least the Cambridge First Proficiency examination level, preferably the higher level too.
Workers will have to learn at least one other language relevant to the country in which they wish to work.
The home church
While the Red Sea Mission Team provides the platform for a person going overseas, it is the home church who sends the worker, recommending him/her to the Team. The church is then responsible to be involved in prayerfully and practically supporting their worker. Any involvement with World Mission involves an intense spiritual battle and the support of caring, praying people is essential.
If you have not already done so, we would encourage you to share your thoughts about serving God overseas with your church leadership, asking for their advice and prayerful support.
Finance
The Red Sea Team make no public appeals. We look to the Lord to supply what He sees we need through his people. If a worker is truly called of the Lord we would expect his/her home church also to recognise this and to seek the Lord's direction as to their financial involvement in supporting their worker. Sometimes several churches may be involved, also friends and family.
Worship
In order to maintain unity in this international interdenominational evangelical family, Team Members need to be able to have fellowship with all believers holding the basic fundamental truths stated in the Basis of Faith, even if differing on secondary issues.
Large families
Couples who already have children will appreciate there could be extra difficulties in learning the language/s well, getting in amongst the people, problems with education and separation, and the level of support needed to keep a family overseas. All this suggests it is a lot easier to get settled before building up a family.
International applicants
We have offices in Australia, Britain, Canada, Germany, New Zealand, Switzerland and the USA. The Team is ready to draw its personnel from other nations too, and we are seeking to develop reliable partnerships in other countries to process and prepare candidates there.
